Principal's Welcome

Thank you for visiting us and considering our school for your child's foundational education.

At Dominican School, we strive to be the best school we can be - as we continue to achieve new levels of excellence.

Here, with the support of an outstanding staff, our students are provided with a broad and diverse learning program that enables them to reach their full potential. We value life-long learning, have high expectations and promote the wellbeing of all.

Dominican School offers a safe and nurturing environment where students' gifts are nurtured and celebrated. A wide range of extra curricular programs are offered - including Music, Sports, Homework Club, Drum Corp and our own Radio Station.

We are a Catholic Parish school, supported by the School Board and working in conjunction with the Lefevre Catholic Community, the SA Commission for Catholic Schools and the Catholic Education Office.

I would be pleased to meet with you to discuss your child's learning and to show you our school so you can see the school in action and have your questions answered. I look forward to meeting you and your child!

Shining bright at Dominican School
Dominican School, Semaphore celebrated Catholic Education Week with the theme: Raising Hearts and Minds with God for Social Justice.
A highlight of the week was their Justice Leaders organising a RAINBOW casual day. On May 17, the students and staff dressed up in all the colours of the rainbow, had rainbow-coloured cupcakes and raised $408 towards the Catholic Charities Appeal, to support people in need.
“The Dominican Justice Leaders did an outstanding job, showing everyone how to Shine Bright and Be a Rainbow in Someone Else’s Cloud,” Martina Kovacev – Acting Religious Education Coordinator.
Well done everyone - what a fantastic initiative - Catholic Charities.

Staff Faith in Action
This term our staff are preparing and sharing in a Hot Soup Lunch once a week, with all invited to contribute a gold coin donation for the Hutt St Centre to support the homeless. Staff roster themselves on in groups of 2 or 3 to provide pots of soup for all staff to enjoy at lunchtime. This money will go towards providing a hot breakfast and lunch for two weeks for a person doing it tough, and providing a hot shower, laundry service and locker for 3 months for a person sleeping rough. This month is Catholic Charities month and each child has received a leaflet with a donation envelope for this year's appeal. The Hutt St Centre is one of the agencies supported by Catholic Charities. See photos of Soup initiative below.

Staff Faith In Action Day
On Friday September 14, our staff shared in a Faith in Action Day. This was a special time for us to unite in faith to provide outreach to those in need.  We cooked for Fred's Van, baked for the Vinnies Women's Crisis Centre, made toiletry packs for Catherine House, celebrated Mass with Fr Roderick and the Parish, and finished the day with a Walk a Mile (from Semaphore to Largs Bay jetty and back) for the Hutt St Centre to support the homeless.  This was a wonderful way for us to focus on our mission to live justly as people of hope. Celebrating Catholic Charities Month
A little giving goes a long way… Charity is at the heart of living Catholic and each September we celebrate Catholic Charities month.  Catholic Charities is our South Australian organisation that provides support to agencies making a difference to the lives of the vulnerable and disadvantaged in our community.  On Tuesday September 26 our Year 7 Justice Leaders hosted a casual day and lunchtime disco for a gold coin donation to raise awareness and funds for the appeal.  Well done to the Justice Leaders in promoting this event and working with our school community to raise $300 to donate to the Catholic Charities Appeal.
