St Gabriel’s School is proudly a Catholic school.
This means that our school supports the teachings and ethos of the Catholic Church and is based on the values of the Catholic faith.
Our school has a rich heritage and is built on the strong faith foundations passed on through the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. Building on this heritage, we aim to prepare the students in our care for their future by assisting them to know God and to nurture their relationship with God.
St Gabriel’s School was opened in 1955 with an enrolment of 85 students. Today St Gabriel’s School is a thriving educational community comprising of 310 students from 29 different cultures. The school is staffed by more than 25 teachers and Educational Support Officers.
Our school strives to be a heart-filled faith community, valuing relationships, pursuing excellence in learning and living the gospel message of love.
We would look forward to welcoming you to our school community, from Stuart Baker (Principal)
(The donations include money also raised in 2015).
Fundraising in 2016
St Gabriels community fundraised for Catholic Charities in term 3.
In August in conjunction with Book Week they celebrated with a sausage sizzle
All term they had 3 wheelie bins collecting donations of toiletries, socks and beanies and food which they delivered directly to the Hutt St Centre and the Other Way Centre, (Aborginal Catholic Ministry).
On their feast day they made prayer flags which are now displayed in their courtyard (see photo) and celebrated with an ice cream in a cone.
They also assigned a different catholic charity to each week of the term on their school calendar.
The teachers made an effort to make that charity a focus for the week in particular during prayer but also learning.
