St Mary Magdalene School

We live, learn, work and play on Kaurna country.  We acknowledge the Kaurna people as the continuing custodians of the Adelaide Plains and pay our respect to Elders past and present. We are committed to Reconciliation.

Prior to the establishment of the City of Elizabeth in 1955, surrounding lands were used by immigrants for a variety of purposes including wheat farming, gold mining and horticulture.

The Sisters of Mercy established the school in 1957. The founding values of  Respect, Dignity, Spirit of Mercy, Social Justice and Service are still taught today.

The school is part of the Elizabeth Catholic Parish.

The City of Playford was formed in 1997 through the amalgamation of several surrounding Councils.

St Mary Magdalene

Mary of Magdala was a strong woman leader and close companion of Jesus. She travelled with Jesus and became one of his disciples.

The Gospels tell how Mary led a small group of women, to the burial place of Jesus. She was the first person to witness the Resurrection.

Mary is remembered as the First Witness to the Resurrection and Apostle to the Apostles.

Mary's  Feast Day is celebrated on 22 July.
